I’ve briefly touched on the cat burglar character Claw
in a
very old post where I mentioned his second and to-date final appearance in
the Amazing Spider-Man Magazine from 2007, but today I thought it
might be more helpful to simply share this obscure prose story in it’s entirely.
‘The Dance’ is written by Tom Defalco with art by Ron Lim,
Scott Koblish and Avalon’s Rob Ro.
For background, this story seems to take place shortly after Amazing Spider-Girl #13. This is evident from the references in that story to ‘the big dance’ which is not depicted in the Amazing Spider-Girl series proper, but instead sets up the prose story ‘The Dance’. Additionally, in ‘The Dance’ May mentioned her recent break- up with Gene Thompson, so this story takes place before they get back together Amazing Spider-Girl #18.
Until I find a new previously unknown MC2 story to talk
about, I remain
frogoat
I feel very ill tonight, throwing up a lot, but your crazy comics obsession makes me happy. I was going to message you elsewhere but it was impossible without an account. Anyway, thanks. I don't really have interest in reading most of these comics... maybe I have a problem that i enjoy reading the little details. Well I sure do have a problem right now, I feel very ill, but that's not really what I meant. Anyway cool blog!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting! Hopefully you feel better now, Anonymous. I'm glad you've enjoyed reading my posts, even if it's just for the minutiae. I do recommend giving the comics a try, if you can!
DeleteThank you for sharing! I've been wanting to hunt this down for years (partly for reference for my MC2 fics, but mostly out of curiosity) and I couldn't find it anywhere! Love the idea of Claw coming back. He was a very entertaining villain.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I knew this story was fairly hard to find so I felt it was worth sharing for the fans to digest. Maybe you'll share your MC2 fics sometime? I also enjoy the return of Claw and, in fact it's partly what led me to cover this topic as I had planned to take a detailed look at the cat burglar. Perhaps I still will.
